MIDWEEK STUDY…Please join us! Wednesdays in February at 10:00 a.m.; led by Mark Oldenburg. Epiphany means God shining forth, in scripture and in our own lives. During this season anyone is welcome to gather to explore God’s shining in the next Sunday’s readings, and how God shines in a similar way in our lives. You’re welcome to take part in any or all of these studies.
LET’S COME TOGETHER IN LENT! We’ll be spending time on Wednesday evenings: March 13, 20, 27 and April 3, 10 at 6:00 p.m. In the social room. Tasty soups from Christ Church chefs along with delicious breads will be served. In the Lutheran tradition we’ll have table talks about Luther’s Catechism. A short prayer service will be part of our evening. For those who wish to stay we’ll test our knowledge by watching the TV show Jeopardy in the Social Room at 7:00! On April 10 we will conclude with our own game of Catechism Jeopardy! Join us for a night of faith, fellowship, and yes fun in Lent!
Getting Ready for Lent: The Body Tutoring the Soul...Lent is perhaps the most valued and valuable of the seasons of the church year. Like most good things, it gets even better with a little preparation. To help you get ready for that season, Dr. John Largen will be leading a retreat for members of Christ Church and other area Lutheran churches (although other friends are certainly welcome!).

The retreat will include worship and lunch, and will focus on what we’re asked by the Ash Wednesday readings to do in Lent, and how those activities can shape our lives in ever more faithful directions.Pr. Largen has a variety of responsibilities at United Lutheran Seminary, including service as dean of the chapel and adjunct professor of formative spirituality. Having served as a parish pastor in Virginia and Pennsylvania and pastor to the Seminary Community at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, he is a guide on matters of spirituality, prayer, and contemplation with a national reputation.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND…SPAGHETTI SUPPER - Monday February 18, 2019, General Pickett’s Buffet; Support Gettysburg CARES and Troop 73...Troop 73 is hosting an all-you-can-eat “Italian Extravaganza” buffet (formerly known as spaghetti supper). The tickets cost $10.00 per adult and $5.00 per child (5 to 10 years). A Ticket purchased at the door is $12.00. 100 % of the ticket receipts are awarded. Troop 73 will give half of the proceeds to GETTYSBURG CARES, which is a program that our church participates in and provides shelter for our community homeless individuals. Troop 73 uses their half of the proceeds for camping scholarships and troop camping equipment. Ticket sales will start January 6, 2019
